Itajime shibori silk scarf - Lilac, pink, blue, green and white - SALE

I use a fine and soft habotai silk for these colourful hand dyed shibori scarves. They work well both as a casual wear and more formally for an evening out.

They are also the ideal gift as they wrap up small and are very light.

Itajime shibori is a folding and clamping technique that creates kaleidoscopic patterns with sharp outlines, but I choose to inject the silk dyes directly into the folded silk, which gives a more interesting distribution of colour.

The Itajime parcels are made by folding the silk into equilateral triangles in a concertina fashion, pressing each crease as you go. It requires patience across the length of a long silk scarf…

Once folded, the parcels are injected with vibrant silk dyes and then steamed to fix the colour.

These silk scarves are very enjoyable to make as every one is different and you don’t know how the pattern will look until you open the parcels!

Colourway: Lilac, pink, blue, green and white
