Shibori rings silk scarf - Burgundy, blue and yellow
Shibori rings silk scarf - Burgundy, blue and yellow
Itajime shibori requires meticulous folding and then clamping to create kaleidoscope patterns but I choose to inject the silk dyes directly into the folded silk, which gives a more interesting distribution of colour.
The parcels themselves are made by folding the silk into equilateral triangles in a concertina fashion, pressing each crease as you go. It can be quite fiddly across the length of a long silk scarf…
Having been folded, the parcels I then inject high quality Dupont silk dyes into different parts of the parcels and steam them to fix the colour.
This rings pattern is made by injecting the dyes in a specific order.
These silk scarves are very enjoyable to make as you never know quite how the pattern has turned out until you open the parcels!
